Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president and former Minister KT Rama Rao on Friday launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, stating that he had made over 50 trips to Delhi since assuming office, without securing any tangible benefit for the State.
“In just 20 months of Congress rule, Revanth Reddy has made 50 visits to Delhi. What has Telangana gained from these trips? Not a single paisa. Not a single new project. Not a single rupee of additional central funding. If he has achieved anything, let him publish a white paper,” Rama Rao demanded.
Stating that Revanth Reddy was running the State not through administrative decisions and policy files, but through frequent flight bookings, he said Revanth Reddy would go down in history not as a Chief Minister, but as a tourist CM who kept shuttling between Hyderabad and Delhi with empty hands.
Rama Rao also said Revanth Reddy was acting as a loyal servant to three political bosses, Rahul Gandhi, Narendra Modi and N Chandrababu Naidu, and claimed that Telangana’s interests were mortgaged to safeguard his own political career.
Revanth Reddy was appeasing Rahul Gandhi to retain his post, surrendering Telangana’s economic autonomy to corporates close to Modi to escape corruption cases, and gifting away Telangana’s water resources to Chandrababu Naidu by remaining silent on the Banakacherla project, which threatens Telangana’s agriculture.
“Despite the looming crisis over Andhra Pradesh’s illegal construction of Banakacherla, Revanth Reddy has not uttered a word in protest. While Telangana farmers suffer, he is protecting his guru Chandrababu,” he said, criticising the Congress government for failing on every major promise.
He listed out the promises, including that there was no announcement on the two lakh jobs, no loan waiver, no Rythu Bharosa, no Rs 4,000 pensions, no support price for crops and no response to the hunger and hardship faced by Gurukul students.
“Farmers are suffering due to lack of irrigation, no urea, and crashing crop prices. The Kaleshwaram Project has not been repaired, and farmers are desperate for water. Meanwhile, Revanth Reddy is busy with photo ops, PR videos and political banquets,” Rama Rao said.
“Fifty trips to Delhi, but Telangana has gained nothing. Just dry assurances and empty hands,” Rama Rao said, adding that the Chief Minister was boarding three flights every three days.
