BRS accuses Revanth Reddy of betraying Telangana’s interests
BRS leader G Jagadish Reddy accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of financial mismanagement and ignoring Telangana’s interests. He criticised excessive Delhi visits, farmers’ distress, and alleged conspiracy to defame Kaleshwaram. He also warned media against publishing unverified reports on BRS governance
Hyderabad: Launching a scathing attack on the Congress government in the State for betraying Telangana and its long-term interests which were safeguarded during the BRS regime, former minister and BRS MLA G Jagadish Reddy accused it of financial mismanagement and governance failures.
Addressing a news conference at Telangana Bhavan on Saturday, he alleged that Revanth Reddy’s frequent Delhi visits — over 50 in 20 months, compared to former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s 10 in a decade, yielded no benefits for Telangana.
“Not even 50 paise has been brought back,” he quipped, claiming that Rs 50,000 crore from the State was siphoned off to Delhi. He accused the government of spending Rs 5 lakh crore, including Rs 2 lakh crore in loans, turning Telangana into an “ATM” for Congress.
The BRS leader also criticised the government’s handling of farmers’ issues, pointing to burnt-out motors and fertiliser shortages, despite ministerial denials. He compared the current situation to the Emergency era, alleging a collapse in governance and unfulfilled promises, such as Priyanka Gandhi’s scooter scheme. Reddy also mocked Revanth Reddy for treating a letter from Sonia Gandhi as an award, which, in fact, was a communication declining to attend a meeting organised in the State.
He defended the Kaleshwaram project, completed in four years under the BRS rule, which Reddy credited for making Telangana a leader in agricultural output. He contrasted it with Andhra Pradesh’s Polavaram project, which faced repeated flood damage over 20 years and required Rs 2,000 crore in central funds for repairs.
Jagadish Reddy said Revanth Reddy, Narendra Modi and N Chandrababu Naidu were conspiring to falsely blame Kaleshwaram for Polavaram’s failures.
The BRS leader also warned media outlets against publishing unverified stories about the Kaleshwaram project or the previous BRS government. He questioned alleged leaks of sealed commission reports and threatened action against “malicious” reporting.
Reddy said Telangana’s economic, industrial and real estate sectors were in a “coma” due to Congress policies. BRS leaders Lingaiah Yadav, N Bhaskar Rao, Ravindra Kumar, Chintala Venkateshwar Reddy and Praveen Kumar were among those who took part.
