Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao has accepted the challenge posed by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to live on the banks of the Musi River for three months to understand the plight of the people residing there. Rama Rao expressed his readiness to stay not just for three months, but for three years if needed. Rama Rao highlighted his deep connection to the Musi River locality, revealing that he had lived in the Nimboli Adda area and the Mayuri Hotel area in Mozamjahi Market during his childhood. He emphasized that while the Chief Minister might hail from Mahabubnagar, his own roots were firmly planted in the Old City of Hyderabad.
He urged the government to recognize that people have been residing near the Musi River for more than 60-70 years and to address their concerns. Rama Rao criticized the government for displacing the poor for development projects and suggested that the Chief Minister reconsider such actions. He also pointed out that the Musi River was a great asset for the city and called it nature’s boon for the city, as it helps drain floodwaters from a vast catchment area extending from the Ananthagiri hills without posing a major flood threat.
