Rajanna-Sircilla: Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao on Monday blasted BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar for indulging in cheap politics and using religion for political gains.

“Sanjay Kumar is known only for hurling abuses at Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and playing the religious sentiment,” the Minister said.

Questioning Sanjay on what he had done for Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency, which he represents, in the past two years, Rama Rao said the BJP leaders, instead of provoking people in the name of religion and resorting to mud-slinging, should in fact, involve themselves in a healthy competition with the TRS in developmental works and bring funds from the Union government.

“Has MP got any funds for the development of his constituency?” Rama Rao asked, participating in various developmental programmes in Illanthakunta mandal headquarters in the district.

Challenging the BJP MP to get national project status for Kaleshwaram and Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation schemes, he suggested that Sanjay work towards getting national highways, Navodaya schools and additional funds for the development of the constituency.

“BJP, which won Dubbaka Assembly by-poll, failed to win the two MLC seats in the State,” he said, and exuded confidence that the TRS would win Nagarjuna Sagar by-election with a thumping majority and that the BJP candidate would lose his deposit. The Minister was also confident that the ruling party would win the two municipal corporation and all seven municipalities going to polls on April 30.

Observing that the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme had transformed the landscape of Telangana State, he said that even during the hot summer, several lakes and rivulets were overflowing in upland regions of the State following the KLIS.

The Chief Minister’s initiatives for the welfare of farmers transformed the State into the rice bowl of the country, he stated. “Telangana has now reached a position where it can teach a lesson or two to others in the nation in the fields of irrigation and water conservation,” he said.

The Minister thanked the farmers who parted with their lands for the construction of Mid Manair reservoir and Anthasagar. As a result, the ground water table in the district had scaled to a recorded level height of 6 meter.

Stating that the Chief Minister was aware of the problems of land oustees, he said a suitable compensation was being provided to oustees who gave up their lands for the construction of various irrigation projects in the State.

Stating that the government had opened 6,400 procurement centres during last year, Rama Rao said this season, the government was setting up 6,700 paddy procurement centres to pick up the produce from the doorstep of farmers.

Listing out welfare schemes for farmers such as Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bhima and others, he said that the Telangana state was alone in the country to provide Rs 2,000 honorarium and 25 kgs rice to the private school teachers, who lost employment due to deadly virus.

Rama Rao announced the sanction of 30-bedded hospital to Illanthakunta mandal and laying of four-lane road from Siddipet to Illanthakunta and also double lane works till Jillela check post.

Earlier, the Minister along with Manakondur legislator Rasamayi Balakishan inaugurated Rythu Vedhika, Weekly market, Mahila Samakya building, Tahsildar officer and PACS paddy procurement center.

ZP chairperson N Aruna, Collector D Krishna Bhaskar and others were also present.
