Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Friday accused the BJP’s online supporters of hypocrisy for targeting him after he questioned alleged attempts to block Starlink’s entry into India.
Rama Rao said BJP supporters celebrated when Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw welcomed Starlink to India but attacked him for raising questions about the satellite internet service.
“So when India’s IT Minister welcomes Starlink, the whole BJP troll army jumps up in joy. I merely asked a question and am an anti-national. What a bunch of hypocrites,” Rama Rao posted on X.
He shared an earlier post by Vaishnaw from March 2025 welcoming Starlink to India and noting that the satellite internet service could be useful for railway projects in remote areas.
The BRS working president’s remarks came after BJP supporters flooded his social media timeline following his appeal to Elon Musk to name the business interests allegedly preventing Starlink from entering the Indian market.
On Thursday, Musk claimed that certain business interests were obstructing the service to protect their monopolistic position. Responding to the claim, Rama Rao had said: “Elon, name and shame the oligarchs. The Nation (India) wants to know who has got this stranglehold on our Government.”
