Hyderabad: Invoking the legacy of the Telangana armed struggle, BRS working president KT Rama Rao urged people to gear up for a renewed struggle against the dictatorial Congress rule. He said the Congress betrayed every section of the society and pushing the State into uncertainity due to its inefficiency.
Celebrating September 17 as National Integration Day marking the integration of the Hyderabad State into the Indian Union, Rama Rao unfurled the national flag at Telangana Bhavan on Wednesday. Calling the day one of marking the transformation from monarchy to democracy, he said the BRS would continue to celebrate September 17 as National Integration Day, despite others celebrating it as liberation or merger.
“The children of Telangana must once again rise as witnesses to the sacrifices of that time,” he said.
The BRS working president remembered thousands of people who laid down their lives during the armed struggle against the monarchy. Terming Telangana as the land of sacrifices and people’s movements, he paid tributes to martyrs like Sheikh Bandagi, Doddi Komuraiah, Arutla Kamalamma, Arutla Ramachandra Reddy, and Ravi Narayana Reddy, stressing that their spirit must guide present-day struggles.
Rama Rao said the seeds of the current democratic movements were sown by the sacrifices of Telangana’s past fighters. Urging people to rally behind BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao to restore Telangana as a welfare and farmers’ State where people can breathe freely, he said the Congress of betraying students and farmers while indulging in hollow promises.
“This government has failed to fill Group-1 posts. It arrested students for holding peaceful meetings, while farmers are left in distress. It speaks of hosting the Olympics, despite its inability to provide basic needs to people,” he charged.
