Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao condemned the demolition of an ancient Shiva temple believed to have been built during the Kakatiya era nearly 800 years ago near Ashoknagar in Khanapur mandal of Warangal district. He accused the Congress government of destroying the State’s historical heritage in the name of development, due to lack of understanding of Telangana’s history, culture or identity.
He described the demolition of the centuries-old temple as an atrocious act and demanded immediate intervention to halt further destruction.
Rama Rao said the Revanth Reddy government, which had already demolished thousands of houses and felled a large number of trees in recent months, was now targeting historical and cultural monuments as well. He demanded that the government immediately stop the destruction and initiate measures to restore the demolished Shiva temple and protect other heritage structures.
