Hyderabad: Calling Vanajeevi Ramaiah, who passed away on Saturday, a beloved child of Mother Nature, BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao expressed his heartfelt condolences.
Ramaiah had dedicated his life to environmental conservation. Padma Shri awardee Daripalli Ramaiah, fondly known as “Vanajeevi”, passed away, leaving an irreplaceable void among nature lovers.
K T Rama Rao said that Ramaiah lived by the motto “Vriksho Rakshati Rakshitah” (The tree protects those who protect it) and planted millions of saplings during his lifetime. His demise is considered a significant loss to environmental enthusiasts.
Ramaiah played a pivotal role in promoting the Telangana government’s “Haritha Haram” initiative, aimed at increasing green cover. His contributions were recognized by K Chanrashekhar Rao, then Chief Minister in 2017, when he and his wife were honored for their efforts in fostering greenery.
In a time when deforestation continues unabated, the need for visionaries like Daripalli Ramaiah is deeply felt. His life and work would remain a beacon of inspiration for future generations to prioritize and protect the environment, he said.
