A multilingual biopic on Padma Shri awardee and green crusader Vanajeevi Ramaiah is underway, directed by Vemuganti and starring Brahmaji. The film aims to present Ramaiah’s environmental mission to global audiences and is being produced with aspirations for major awards.
Born on July 1, 1937, to Lalaiah and Pullamma, Daripalli Ramaiah was known popularly as Vanajeevi Ramaiah because of his efforts to spread greenery by planting over a crore saplings in his lifetime
K T Rama Rao said that Ramaiah lived by the motto "Vriksho Rakshati Rakshitah" (The tree protects those who protect it) and planted millions of saplings during his lifetime. His demise is considered a significant loss to environmental enthusiasts
Despite the saplings being lost due to road expansion, Kumar called for replanting efforts to revive Ramaiah’s vision. He also proposed renaming the annual Vanamahotsavam as "Ramaiah Vanamahotsavam" in honor of his enduring legacy.
Chandrashekhar Rao paid tribute to Ramaiah, who dedicated his life to the motto "Vruksho Rakshati Rakshitaha" (Protect trees, and they will protect you). He praised Ramaiah’s mission of planting over one crore trees and promoting the significance of greenery as a noble and remarkable achievement.
