Warangal: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Tuesday visited Muthojipet in Narsampet constituency and consoled the family of TGSRTC driver Shankar Goud, who died by suicide allegedly over unmet demands for RTC merger with the government and implementation of the Pay Revision Commission (PRC).

Rama Rao handed over Rs 5 lakh as financial assistance on behalf of the party and interacted with the bereaved family. Several senior BRS leaders, including Opposition leader in Legislative Council S Madhusudhana Chary, Rajya Sabha MP Vaddiraju Ravichandra, former Ministers Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Satyavathi Rathod among others accompanied him.

Addressing the media, Rama Rao attacked the Congress government over its failure to fulfil the electoral promise of merging RTC with the government and implementing PRC within 100 days of coming to power.

He alleged that the government’s inaction had pushed employees into distress, leading to extreme steps. He also criticised the police for allegedly detaining BRS leaders who attempted to visit the family earlier. He said the Congress government’s inefficiency and indifference led to deaths of RTC workers like Shankar Goud.

Rama Rao reminded that the previous BRS government had approved the merger of RTC with the government and recognised RTC employees as government staff, but the process was stalled under the present Congress regime. He reminded that the government released Rs 12 lakh compensation to the bereaved family of Shankar Goud, only after his visit was confirmed.

Calling for unity among RTC workers, he urged them to fight collectively for their rights and assured that the BRS would continue its support until their demands are fulfilled.
