Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Tuesday dismissed the Formula-E case as a bogus case, asserting that every rupee spent on the event was properly accounted for. Throwing an open challenge, he said he was ready to undergo a lie detector test and dared Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to join him in a live debate before the people.

Responding to the reports of ACB seeking the State government’s request to commence prosecution in the case, Rama Rao admitted that he had approved the release of Rs.46 crore from the government, but clarified the money was deposited directly into the designated account.

“Not a single rupee was misused. Where then is the corruption?” he asked, adding that even if prosecution proceeded or charge-sheets were filed, they would not withstand scrutiny.

He accused the Congress government of using the case to divert attention from public issues and its failed promises. He challenged the Chief Minister for a lie detector test on live television. He reminded people of past controversies surrounding Revanth Reddy, including being caught on camera with Rs 50 lakh cash.

“Let the people decide who is telling the truth,” he said.

Asserting that the BRS would not be distracted, Rama Rao said the party would continue to question the government on the unfulfilled promises and guarantees of the Congress.
