IT Minister K T Rama Rao consuming Mission Bhagiratha water from a kitchen tap in a newly built double bedroom house at Towers at Tekulapalli near Khammam on Friday.
Khammam: The message sent out by MAUD Minister K T Rama Rao was loud and clear, when he quenched his thirst directly from the water tap in the kitchen of a double bedroom house at Tekulapalli near here on Friday.
The Minister’s action established the fact that Mission Bhagiratha water was safer than Reverse Osmosis (RO) treated water.
Rama Rao was going around a complex of as many as 1,104 double bedroom houses named KCR Towers that he inaugurated at Tekulapalli earlier, and consumed Mission Bhagiratha water from the kitchen tap.
The picture of Rama Rao consuming tap water went viral on social media platforms as it was shared widely on Facebook, Whatsapp and other platforms. R&B Minister V Prashanth Reddy, who accompanied him later to a public meeting, said the Minister even sprinkled water on his head in a sacred gesture.
During his busy schedule in the town, Rama Rao launched daily supply of Mission Bhagiratha water to 45,000 new household tap connections and 85, 000 existing tap connections under Khammam Municipal Corporation limits. The project was executed at an expenditure of Rs 223.95 crore.
