Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao, senior MLAs T Harish Rao, G Jagadish Reddy and several other BRS leaders celebrated Diwali festivities with the families of Musi Riverfront project oustees and victims of HYDRAA demolitions in Hyderabad on Monday. They distributed sweets, fruits and crackers to the families, and assured them full support.

Joining the celebrations with the families who lost homes due to demolitions by HYDRAA near Sunnam Cheruvu in Kukatpally constituency, Rama Rao charged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy with failing to deliver any development since coming to power and inflicting suffering on the poor. He condemned the Congress government for sending bulldozers to demolish homes in the dead of night.

He said even families with legally valid documents were evicted without notice. “Their homes were razed, and their hopes shattered. They were forced to abandon their belongings,” he said.

The BRS working president demanded that the Congress government immediately distribute approximately 40,000 unallocated houses built under the previous BRS government, to the HYDRAA victims. He asserted that if the Congress government fails to compensate them, the BRS would come to their rescue immediately after returning to power.

He warned that the party would not rest until the victims received compensation. “Not a single brick has been laid since the Congress came to power. The government has failed to build a single house or bring any development to Hyderabad,” he said.

Rama Rao stated that essential services, including free water supply to poor households, have deteriorated under the Congress rule. “This evil government will meet its end at the hands of the poor who were harassed and made to suffer,” he declared, assuring that the BRS would fight until justice is served.

MLAs G Jagadish Reddy, Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, Madhavaram Krishna Rao, MLC Shabhipur Raju and others participated in the celebrations.

Similarly, former Ministers T Harish Rao, along with BRS Rajendranagar in-charge P Karthik Reddy, visited Central Vihar at Hydershahkote where they participated in Diwali celebrations with Musi project affected families. They distributed sweets and crackers to the affected families and promised to ensure justice for them.

Celebrating Diwali with displaced families at Hydershahkote in Rajendranagar constituency, Harish Rao said the Congress government had turned a festival of light into one of despair for the poor. “To stop the demolition of poor people’s houses, we must defeat the Congress in Jubilee Hills bypolls,” he said. He said Telangana was now being ruled by a demon named Revanth Reddy and the real Diwali will come when this demon’s rule ends.

He lashed out at the government for prioritising the interests of big industrialists over the livelihoods of the poor. “The government that should protect people’s lives, is instead destroying them, to benefit the rich” he said. Questioning selective demolitions, he asked, “Why did HYDRAA not act against properties of Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Revanth Reddy’s brother and other Congress leaders constructed in water bodies? Why are only the poor being targeted?” he asked.
