Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao condemned the SIT notice issued to former MP J Santosh Kumar in the alleged phone-tapping case, calling the probe a scripted political drama. He said the Congress government was misusing the investigation to target opposition leaders, while ignoring the real culprits.
He said summoning Santosh Kumar, who had no link to the case, was nothing but political vendetta and an attempt to divert attention ahead of municipal elections.
The BRS leader accused the Revanth Reddy government of using the SIT as a tool to shift focus from mounting corruption scandals, including the Naini coal block irregularities. He stated that he and former Minister T Harish Rao had already faced questioning in the same case, without any outcome.
Rama Rao also questioned the timing of the notice, pointing out that it came soon after the BRS announced plans to meet the Governor to seek a probe into the coal scam. “This is no coincidence,” he said, alleging a deliberate move to blunt the party’s offensive. He asserted that the BRS would stand by Santosh Kumar and fight the case legally.
Reacting to the notices, BRSLP deputy leader T Harish Rao said using SIT notices as a political weapon has become routine under the Revanth Reddy government. “After exposing the coal scam, a notice was served on me purely to divert public attention. When KTR raised the same coal scam issue, he too was summoned with an SIT notice,” he reminded.
He pointed out that as the BRS delegation is scheduled to meet the Governor on Tuesday evening to expose the Congress government’s scams and loot, a hurried notice was issued to former MP Santosh Kumar clearly aimed at diverting attention once again. “This pattern of vendetta and diversionary politics is being closely watched by the people, even as the truth behind the coal scam continues to come out,” he added.
Several BRS leaders including former Ministers, MPs, MLAs and MLCs among others also condemned the notices issued to Santosh Kumar and demanded that the government stop vendetta politics to focus on delivering promises.
