Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao strongly countered Congress leaders over their selective outrage against him and political hypocrisy over his recent remarks about Rahul Gandhi.
The BRS leader said he had merely repeated what Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy himself had said in the past and challenged the Congress leaders to first question their own Chief Minister before targeting the opposition.
Addressing the party cadre at Telangana Bhavan here, Rama Rao reminded Congress Ministers and MLAs that it was Revanth Reddy who once called Rahul Gandhi “Mudda Pappu” and made even harsher remarks against Sonia Gandhi. He ridiculed them for forgetting Revanth Reddy’s remarks against the Gandhi family, while targeting him for repeating the same remarks.
“Revanth Reddy described Sonia Gandhi as a Bali Devatha responsible for the deaths of a thousand people in Telangana. Yet you made him Chief Minister. Now you object to me quoting him? Why are you speaking against us while protecting the man who abused the Gandhi family?” he asked.
Criticising the Congress leaders for lacking the courage to confront their own Chief Minister, the BRS working president said they were directing their frustration toward the BRS. “This is hypocrisy of the highest order,” he said, adding that he would continue to question Rahul Gandhi and Revanth Reddy on the unfulfilled six guarantees as Telangana voters deserve answers.
Amid reports of upcoming GHMC elections, Rama Rao called upon the BRS cadres to gear up and face elections unitedly to secure victory. He reminded that the previous BRS government had executed nearly Rs 9,700 crore worth of development works in Hyderabad, which should be taken to every voter.
He urged the party leaders to expose the Congress government’s anti-Hyderabad decisions including cancellation of development projects and negligence in new initiatives to meet the growing needs.
“Instead of development and construction, this Congress government is demolishing homes of the poor under the guise of HYDRAA,” he said. He also took a dig at Serlingampally MLA Arekapudi Gandhi for defecting to the ruling Congress to protect his lands. Despite such betrayals, public support for BRS remained strong, he said.
Earlier, Rama Rao inducted senior leader Gutta Narendra Yadav, along with hundreds of supporters from Serlingampally constituency, into the BRS fold at Telangana Bhavan.
