Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president KT Rama Rao on Saturday congratulated the newly elected sarpanches backed by his party in the first phase of gram panchayat elections in the State. He praised them for achieving “remarkable victories” despite what he described as police excesses, conspiracies and irregularities by the ruling Congress party.
Hundreds of newly elected sarpanches and party leaders from various districts, including Nalgonda, Rangareddy, Adilabad and Mahabubnagar, visited the BRS working president in Hyderabad, with the venue turning into a celebratory scene.
Speaking on the occasion, Rama Rao asserted that the people of Telangana stood firmly behind the BRS, undeterred by the Congress government’s use of force and malpractices. The massive victories by BRS-backed candidates in the first phase of sarpanch elections were proof of this, he said.
Applauding the resilience and fighting spirit of each winner, he highlighted the significant number of BRS-backed sarpanches elected in Kodangal, the home constituency of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. Sarpanches from the area, led by Kodangal in-charge and former MLA Patnam Narender Reddy, also met Rama Rao to celebrate their success.
“This large-scale victory in the Chief Minister’s own constituency is a clear indication of strong public dissatisfaction with Congress rule and solid support for the BRS,” he remarked, adding that similar results would continue in the coming days, reflecting growing confidence and support for the BRS at the grassroots.
He announced that he would meet newly elected sarpanches from different districts over the next 10 days. These meetings will include felicitations and discussions on the party’s future action plans.
Senior party leaders from several districts also participated in Saturday’s event.
