Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao paid rich tributes to Professor K Jayashankar on his birth anniversary on Wednesday, calling him the ideological beacon of the Telangana movement.
At an event held in Delhi, he offered floral tributes to Jayashankar’s portrait, along with Rajya Sabha MPs KR Suresh Reddy, Divakonda Damodar Rao, Vaddiraju Ravichandra, Parthasarathy Reddy, and former MP B Vinod Kumar.
Speaking on the occasion, the BRS working president said Prof Jayashankar dedicated his life to the cause of Telangana statehood and fought alongside BRS chief and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao until the goal was realised.
Recalling his bond with the late professor, Rama Rao said Jayashankar stood firmly by Chandrashekhar Rao during the Telangana agitation, and that his ideals continue to inspire the BRS. “At a time when Telangana’s interests are being compromised, there is a need to uphold Jayashankar sir’s spirit and principles,” he said.
He called on all Telangana supporters to remain committed to protecting the self-respect of the state and ensuring that the original dream of Telangana is not diluted.
