Hyderabad: Amid reports that the Congress government is planning to stop the free drinking water supply scheme in Hyderabad, BRS working president KT Rama Rao warned Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy against any such move. Any attempt to tamper with the scheme, which was initiated by former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, would be met with stiff resistance, he said.

Rama Rao said the 1.2 crore strong population of Hyderabad would never forgive the Congress or its Chief Minister for such actions.

“It has been 20 months and Revanth Reddy has failed to implement even a fraction of the 420 promises made. Now, unable to provide water to farmers, this failed government is targeting drinking water in the city,” he said.

He said the Congress regime was ruining Hyderabad’s image with ill-thought-out ideas like HYDRAA and dragging the city into chaos with poor planning.

“People who never faced such issues during BRS rule are now bearing the brunt of Revanth Reddy’s inefficiency, resulting in bad roads, poor drainage and now, threats to stop free water,” he said.

The BRS leader said that Hyderabadis were ready to teach a lesson to the Congress government for its failures. He termed the attempt to tamper with the water scheme a historic blunder that would backfire politically.
