Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao condemned the recent assault on Bhaskar Mudiraj, a Mahabubnagar resident who was allegedly beaten with a belt by local CI Appaiah after questioning the unfulfilled election promises of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in a social media group. Calling it an abuse of power, Rama Rao questioned the police’s right to punish citizens for holding the government accountable.
Rama Rao telephoned Bhaskar and expressed his solidarity, pledging the BRS party’s full support in seeking justice. He assured to take up the issue with the State BC Commission and the Human Rights Commission.
He stated that no one should fear illegal cases imposed for questioning the government over pending promises.
He asked the Revanth Reddy government to stop misuse of power and advised the police to refrain from acting as party workers for Congress and warned that any officer enabling such actions would face consequences once BRS returns power.
He also telephoned former Minister V Srinivas Goud and suggested to intensify the fight for Bhaskar’s rights, to hold accountable those responsible for the abuse of police powers.
