Hyderabad: Terming the ‘deeksha’ in support of unemployed youth planned by the State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Monday as opportunistic, Industries and IT Minister KT Rama Rao on Sunday sought to know how many government jobs the Centre had provided to the unemployed so far.
Since it had promised to provide as many as two crore jobs every year, the Centre should explain to the people how many jobs had been provided so far. “Can the BJP leaders in Telangana have the guts to explain to the people how many jobs were provided by the Central government so far?” the Minister asked, in an open letter addressed to Sanjay.
He questioned the BJP leaders as to how many youth from the State got jobs. It was the Central government, which cancelled the Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) project, to Telangana, he said. “You have the history of cheating the youth,” he said, adding that because of the policies adopted by the Central government, the unemployment rate has gone down to a forty year low. “Can the BJP leaders explain the number of jobs lost by the youth because of the demonetization and GST?” he asked.
At a time when the entire world was affected by Covid-19 pandemic, the BJP ‘jumla’ party failed to give a single rupee despite announcing a Rs.20 lakh crore stimulus pandemic package, Rama Rao said.
Since they were unable to explain to people the Centre’s failure to provide jobs, the BJP party was doing politics by staging a ‘deeksha’, he added.
