Hyderabad: Moved by the plight of students in Gurukul schools for food, BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Tuesday expressed concern over the state of governance in Telangana under the Congress. He questioned the State government’s measures to curb repeated incidents of food poisoning and struggles faced by students.
Rama Rao shared a video of students who informed that they were being called beggars in their Gurukul school for asking food.
“In a state that has harvested 1.53 crore metric tons of paddy and served as the food bowl of India, why are children crying for food today?” he asked.
He highlighted the strides made during former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s decade-long rule, when Telangana transitioned from a State facing food shortage and suicides of farmers into a self-reliant one ensuring food security.
Drawing attention to the condition of education, the BRS working president pointed out the decline in standards.
“Students who once excelled in Gurukuls, conquered the Everest, and achieved a 100 per cent pass rate are now struggling for a morsel of food. This reflects poorly on the current administration and impacts our students deeply,” he noted.
