KTR recalls BRS government’s 10 per-cent ST reservation decision

Hyderabad: BRS working president K T Rama Rao on Wednesday recalled the BRS government’s decision to increase reservations for Scheduled Tribes from 6 per cent to 10 per cent, marking four years since the orders were issued.

Rama Rao said the K Chandrashekhar Rao government had taken several measures for the welfare and development of tribal communities. These included converting thandas and tribal hamlets into gram panchayats, providing drinking water, and establishing Sevalal Banjara Bhavan and Kumram Bheem Adivasi Bhavan in Hyderabad.

He also cited the naming of Asifabad district after Kumram Bheem, development of a memorial at Jodeghat and distribution of titles for podu lands.

The BRS working president said nearly 100 new ST residential schools had been established, while Dr BR Ambedkar Overseas Scholarships and the CMST Entrepreneurship Initiative were introduced to support tribal students and youth.
