Warangal: Invoking the spirit of Telangana’s Statehood struggle, BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Wednesday recalled the unforgettable moments of party president K.Chandrashekhar Rao’s ‘fast unto death’ and the sacrifices of martyrs while urging people to reignite the same revolutionary zeal today against the Congress misrule and turmoil triggered by its corruption in the State.

Addressing party workers and functionaries after visiting the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park, he said the day Chandrashekhar Rao raised the slogan ‘Telangana vachhado, KCR sacchado’ and shook the entire Telangana society still resonates in his mind.

“On that day when KCR was shifted to Khammam, the entire region rose like a battlefield. I too participated in student protests at Kakatiya University. We were lodged in Warangal Central Jail. After 30 hours when I was released, I went directly to Khammam.”

He recalled the second phase of the movement triggered by the martyrdom of Srikanth Achary and stressed that the present generation, including his own son who was just 8 years old then, may not fully know the intensity of those sacrifices.

“Let us recall the fighting spirit of that day on this Deeksha Divas. Let us remember the issues that are once again pushing Telangana into turmoil and march forward with the same revolutionary zeal,” he urged.

The BRS leader announced that every year, programmes are conducted for 11 days in memory of the martyr and called upon the party cadre to stand firmly behind Chandrashekhar Rao.

Turning his guns on the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government, Rama Rao said people had now realised the true colours of the Congress regime within a short span.

“Just as one understands the value of light only after experiencing darkness, people are now yearning for Chandrashekhar Rao to return. There is no need to feel saddened or scared,” he asserted.

He accused the Congress government of filing false cases out of administrative failure and thanked lawyers who are standing at the forefront just as they did during the movement.

BC reservation betrayal

Rama Rao launched a blistering attack on the Congress for cheating the backward classes.

“In Kamareddy, Congress announced the BC Declaration promising 42 percent reservations in education, jobs and politics and looted BC votes. Now they are speaking in five different voices on the same issue. Rahul Gandhi beat empty drums in Bihar claiming to have implemented 42 percent reservation for the BCs. The 24 percent reservation given during Chandrashekhar Rao’s regime has been reduced to 17 percent,” he charged.

Alleging manipulation in the caste census to reduce BC numbers and subsequently slash reservations, he said in Narmetta mandal that had 17 villages, only one seat was allotted to BCs.

“The Congress government that slits throats with a wet cloth must be taught a lesson by the BCs,” he said, also slamming the Congress for attempting to remove the historic Kakatiya Kala Thoranam from Telangana’s State emblem, vowing that the fight against the Congress government would begin from Warangal itself.

He reminded the gathering that Chandrashekhar Rao had put his life on the line, fasting for 11 days without food, to achieve Telangana. “No matter what election comes, we will march forward with the fighting spirit showered on us by him,” he said.
