Hyderabad: Launching a scathing attack on the Congress government in the State for the vitiating atmosphere being created by it in Hyderabad by breeding lawlessness and inciting violence, BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Saturday attributed the deteriorating situation to the incompetent rule of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.

Addressing the media after visiting BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy and his family at his residence that came under the attack of the Congress mob led by MLA Arekapudi Gandhi and his men, Rama Rao condemned the hooliganism perpetrated in the heart of the city in broad daylight.

Pointing out that such vandalism had never been seen in the last ten years in the State, he blamed the incompetent Chief Minister, who also holds the home portfolio, for the current state of affairs, citing 28 murders in 30 days as evidence of lawlessness. He questioned Revanth Reddy’s competence to continue to be the Chief Minister, noting his frequent absences and visits to the party headquarters in New Delhi.

Justifying the questions posed by Kaushik Reddy to Gandhi, Rama Rao reiterated the same questions about Gandhi’s current party affiliations. He said Revanth Reddy was using tactics meant for attention diversion and headline management, predicting that Revanth would go down in history as the most incompetent Chief Minister.

Rama Rao compared Revanth Reddy to previous leaders like N Chandrababu Naidu, Y S Rajashekhara Reddy, N Kiran Kumar Reddy, and K Rosaiah, stating that Hyderabad had been peaceful for the last ten years under the BRS rule.

Stating that Revanth Reddy bore a grudge against the people of Hyderabad for giving an overwhelming mandate to the BRS in the assembly elections, where the Congress drew a blank, he said Revanth was resorting to coercive measures such as demolitions and other actions to undermine the BRS’s achievements. Rama Rao emphasized that during the BRS rule, there was no “Andhra-Telangana panchayat,” but the Congress was inciting such differences for political gain.

Rama Rao stated that the BRS would continue questioning the Congress government until all guarantees given to the people were fulfilled. He insisted on action against the police officers who escorted the hooligans to Kaushik Reddy’s residence. Expressing solidarity with Kaushik Reddy’s family, he questioned what would have happened if family members had been harmed in the attack. He criticized the police for their bid to harass senior BRS leaders like T Harish Rao after the incident, but noted that public support thwarted these attempts.

Stating that the High Court direction to Speaker for action against the turncoat MLAs had sparked fears of losing their membership, he said Kaushik Reddy was instrumental in filing a disqualification petition against Danam Nagender, Tellam Venkatrao, and Kadiam Srihari. Rama Rao thanked the on behalf of the BRS.

He recalled that Revanth Reddy had previously stated that MLAs who defected from the party should be stoned and beaten to death. On the day of the High Court verdict, Gandhi was appointed as PAC Chairman, which led to the attack on Kaushik Reddy’s house when he questioned the undermining of democratic values.
