Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Wednesday came down sharply the Congress government for its misplaced priorities and inefficiency to feed students in government schools under Mid-Day Meals scheme. Citing the lavish expenditure of the government on high profile events, he questioned the neglect in release of pending bills and depriving meals to students in government schools.
“One dinner plate for guests at the Miss World event cost Rs 1 lakh and the lunch during the Chief Minister’s visit to Vemulawada temple had cost Rs 32,000 per person. But for students who are the future of Telangana, lunch means chilli powder and watery sambar,” he said, calling it another hallmark of the Congress’s Prajaapalana (people’s governance).
Rama Rao questioned the silence of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over the death of more than 90 students in various Telangana’s Gurukul schools.
“What does it take to treat the people of this State as humans? What does it take to serve a half-decent meal to students in our schools?” he asked.
