Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao lashed out at the Congress government for the neglect of girl students at Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) in Nalgonda district, where only rice with chilli powder was served as breakfast. He condemned the incident as a glaring example of administrative apathy and targeted the Congress leadership for failing to maintain basic standards in hostels.

Photos and videos of students in the Krishnaveni girls’ dormitory queuing up with plates for rice, salt, and chilli powder for their breakfast, went viral, sparking widespread outrage.

Taking to X, Rama Rao criticised the State government, questioning the inhumanity of the situation. “Is this what the Congress calls people’s governance? While the Chief Minister claims a plate costs Rs 32,000, students are served such meals,” he remarked sarcastically.

“Telangana School Children Get Salt, Chilly Powder & Rice Under Scheme Meant to up Nutritional Intake”

Suggesting this headline to any national, vernacular media that cares about the inhumanity of the situation!

He also suggested headlines for the media – “Telangana school children get salt, chilly powder and rice under scheme meant to up nutritional intake”.

Drawing parallels to past statements by Congress leaders, the BRS working president questioned the selective outrage of Congress leaders like Priyanka Gandhi. Citing an old post of Priyanka Gandhi who found fault with students being served roti and salt for meal in Uttar Pradesh, he suggested that she rehash her statement from 2019 and release it for the benefit of students in Telangana government hostels.

He felt that such issues were often ignored when they occur in Telangana. He asked whether it was a national issue only when it happens in Uttar Pradesh or some other State. “Does the spiciness of the news or the seriousness of the issue diminish because it happened in Telangana and students were served not just salt, but also chilli powder?” he asked.
