Nagarkurnool: Charging the Congress government with shielding those responsible for the death of a two-month-old infant in Kummera village of Nagarkurnool, BRS working president KT Rama Rao demanded the immediate arrest of the eight alleged attackers. The government must press murder charges against the accused for stringent punishment and ensure justice to the victims, he said.
After meeting the grieving family during their protest demanding justice, he consoled the parents and extended solidarity. He assured that BRS would stand with the family. The child died after an alleged assault on the family during the Mallanna Swamy Jatara.
Stating that the crime shook Telangana’s conscience and left everyone in anguish, Rama Rao said the attack was rooted in caste prejudice and carried out in full public view, leading to the infant’s death.
“The family was brutally attacked when they went to offer prayers at Mallanna Swamy Jatara. Whoever the killers are, whichever party they belong to, they must be sent to jail,” he said.
The BRS working president accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of maintaining a criminal silence over the entire incident.
“It is unforgivable for a government to remain silent when such inhumanity occurs. Anyone standing by the killers, be it the Chief Minister, local MLA or MP, is complicit,” he asserted.
Calling the assault a blot on humanity, Rama Rao said it was shameful that in the 21st century people were attacked in the name of caste, that too while visiting a temple. He suspected that the police were being forced to dilute the case and protect the powerful with the support of the top leaders in the Congress government.
“I have come here not as a politician, but as a father and a member of society,” he said, pledging that the BRS would fight until justice was delivered.
He announced Rs.1 lakh immediate financial aid and promised to construct a house for the family at a cost of Rs.10 lakh on behalf of the BRS. He demanded that the government provide Rs.1 crore compensation for the bereaved family.
Thanking all who were supporting the victims’ family, he stated that their tragedy should not be reduced to politics but serve as a wake-up call for the State to uphold justice and dignity for all.
