Hyderabad: Marking his birthday on July 24, BRS working president KT Rama Rao announced that this year’s “Gift A Smile” campaign would focus on progress, hope and life. Accordingly, he will be distributing KCR Kits to 4,910 new mothers and babies in Sircilla district.
Calling it the most fulfilling initiative so far, Rama Rao said this year’s gift would be a tribute to institutional deliveries in Sircilla over the last 18 months.
The “If I have to pick a favourite among all schemes introduced by KCR garu, it would be the KCR Kit. What is more life-changing than life itself?” he remarked.
Previous years have seen initiatives such as 108 ambulances being deployed to government hospitals (2020), 1,400 tri-wheelers for the differently-abled (2021), 6,000 tablets being distributed to needy students (2022), laptops being provided to 116 meritorious children from a State home (2023), and support being extended to families affected by weaver suicides (2024).
Now in its sixth year, Gift A Smile has grown into a people-centric initiative rooted in service. Rama Rao’s simple gesture to avoid birthday bouquets has evolved into an annual drive over the years. He thanked everyone who has been a part of the campaign over the years.
