Hyderabad: Stating that the Congress government had delivered 20 months of incompetent, corrupt and fraudulent governance, BRS working president KT Rama Rao urged the people to reject the Congress in the upcoming bypoll for Jubilee Hills constituency. He asked the party cadres to treat the Jubilee Hills by-election as a serious political battle and ensure victory for the BRS candidate.
Launching a blistering attack on the Congress government at a preparatory meeting for the Jubilee Hills by-election at Telangana Bhavan on Sunday, where the late MLA Maganti Gopinath’s wife Maganti Sunitha was also present, Rama Rao said the people of Telangana must be made aware of the 20-month-long anarchic rule of the Congress and its collusion politics with the BJP. He lashed out at senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, for cheating all sections of Telangana with hollow declarations before elections.
“The same Congress cheaters who made fake promises before elections are now destroying welfare schemes and harassing the poor,” he said, warning that if the people re-elected Congress, the remaining schemes too would be scrapped.
The BRS working president criticised the Congress regime for demolishing homes of the poor under the guise of HYDRAA and Musi Riverfront development, while turning a blind eye to illegal constructions by powerful Congress leaders. He cited the tragic suicide of an elderly woman in Kukatpally, who feared her home would be razed without notice.
“HYDRAA is only going after the huts of the poor, but has no guts to act against the palaces of Revanth Reddy and his family which are constructed in water bodies,” he remarked.
He said there was a tacit alliance between the Congress and the BJP. “Otherwise, Why has not Modi filed a single case against Revanth Reddy despite the scams? Because both parties have only one aim, that is to defeat BRS,” he said.
Reminding people of the BRS-era welfare measures like Shaadi Mubarak, Kalyana Lakshmi and land regularisation through GOs 58 and 59, Rama Rao said Hyderabad’s inclusive development was possible only under former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who never played politics in the name of religion or community.
On the occasion, he urged the party cadre to take the Jubilee Hills bypoll seriously and treat it as a tribute to the late Maganti Gopinath. He wanted them to work on a mission mode and reach out to every household and voter, to explain the importance of BRS’ win the election.
