Hyderabad: Stating that the BRS will not stay silent while a malicious and politically motivated campaign seeks to tarnish the reputation of its leaders , the party Working President, K T Rama Rao made it clear that legal proceedings would be initiated against those spreading slander and unsubstantiated allegations on the so-called phone-tapping issue.
In a strongly worded statement, he condemned what he described as a deliberate campaign of character assassination orchestrated by certain media entities acting as political tools for the Congress and its allies.
“It is evident that certain media houses, acting as extensions of the Congress and its allies, are deliberately peddling lies to mislead the public and defame our leadership. We will fight this character assassination with the full force of the law”, he asserted.
Mahaa TV, a repeat offender
Rama Rao singled out Mahaa TV, calling it a repeat offender, and accused it of intentionally airing fabricated and baseless stories on YouTube and television, despite multiple prior warnings and appeals from the BRS party.
He said that Mahaa TV has shown no interest in responsible journalism and is operating purely to defame BRS leaders, which now compels the party to take legal recourse.
He recalled that similar actions in the past had resulted in strict court warnings and legal consequences against certain Congress leaders and YouTube channels. He cited the case of Konda Surekha, where the BRS had filed a Rs. 100 crore defamation suit and criminal complaint, resulting in strong rebukes from both the Election Commission and the civil court.
Vicious media campaign
He added that if Mahaa TV continued its current course, it would face the same legal consequences, including criminal defamation and civil damages. He stated that vicious media campaigns pretending to be journalism do not affect him personally, but deeply disturb his family, well-wishers, party colleagues, and the larger BRS cadre.
KTR lamented that media freedom is being misused to insult Telangana’s identity and dignity, and vowed that each of those involved in this malicious conspiracy will be dealt with through the legal system.
He called out Congress, BJP, and TDP-aligned media owners for running political propaganda as news and declared that such coordinated attacks will not go unanswered.
KTR upholds democratic values
Describing the Congress regime under Revanth Reddy as a “third-rate, blackmail-driven government,” he said the blatant practice had normalised lies, abuse, and slander as political tools.
Rama Rao made it clear that there was no place in democracy for physical attacks or psychological warfare through media-fabricated narratives. He said the BRS will fight these slanderous attacks legally and constitutionally.
Calling on party workers and supporters to remain calm, he urged BRS ranks to stay focused on exposing the Congress government’s “420 lies and betrayals.”
“Let’s respond not with anger, but with truth, law, and people’s trust. The Congress can’t hide its failures behind false narratives forever,” he asserted.
