Kuchipudi ballet ‘Vatsayana Kamasutra Arthanariswaram’ on April 13
Renowned dance guru Swathi Somanath will stage her Kuchipudi dance drama ‘Vatsayana Kamasutra Arthanariswaram’ at Ravindra Bharathi on April 13. The experimental ballet, performed by her disciples, revisits a production she originally choreographed over two decades ago.

Hyderabad: Renowned dance guru, Swathi Somanath, on Friday said that Vatsayana Kamasutra Arthanariswaram Kuchipudi dance drama would be performed at Ravindra Bharathi on April 13 at 6 pm under the auspices of Sampradayam Cultural Trust, Srikakulam.
The dance drama, which she had performed 23 years ago, this time with a few changes under her direction, would be performed by the disciples of Sampradaya Gurukulam.
Swati Somanath, Director of Samparam Cultural Trust, in a press release, said no one has performed Kamasutra based on the science of dance, and it was an adventurous Kuchipudi dance experiment done by her. Written by Bnim, this dance drama has music composed by Garimella Gopalakrishna under the music direction of N Suresh Prasad.
The concept and choreography were done by Swati Somnath, and she said the Nritya Natika would begin with the question of why Kama Sutras need to be propagated and end with Ardhanarishwara Keli Vinoda Pradhan. The show is free, and all are invited, she added.
