Kuchipudi in a New Light: Yamini Reddy’s ‘Surya’ Explores the Origins of Life
Kuchipudi dancer Yamini Reddy presented ‘Surya – Tvam Surya Pranamamyaham’ at Shilpa Kala Vedika, blending classical dance, Vedic philosophy and live orchestration to narrate the Sun’s role in cosmic creation, inspired by the Nasadiya Sukta.

Hyderabad: ‘Surya – Tvam Surya Pranamamyaham’ by Kuchipudi dancer Yamini Reddy was held at Shilpa Kala Vedika. With an ensemble of 25 dancers and a live orchestra.
Yamini Reddy’s Surya, a vibrant and immersive Kuchipudi dance performance, marked an intimate and poetic exploration of the origins of life, celebrating the Sun as the primal force behind creation.
The narrative drew inspiration from the ancient Nasadiya Sukta of the Rig Veda, touching upon the cosmic birth of the Sun, the formation of the Navagrahas and the subsequent creation of life on Earth.
With live orchestra by Deevi Ravikanth , M Chandrakanth , Manohar Balatchandirane, Anil Kumar, Koduru Prakash and Rayalaprolu Sudhakar alongside Kolanki Sai Kumar and P. Vidyasagar, meticulous light and stage design, and seamless coordination of dancers, Surya combined the creative contributions from Raja and Radha Reddy, along with artistic direction by Kaushalya Reddy
