Hyderabad: The Kukatpally police solved the case of dacoity of Rs 1 crore reported early on Tuesday with the arrest of four persons. The police recovered Rs 77,39,000 from the suspects.
The arrested are Mohd Omer Shareef, Mohd Ghouse Saddam, Abdul Hameed, and Mohd Khusro uddin, all residents of Bahadurpura. Five others suspects are absconding.
According to the police, one of the suspects Khusro, along with Azeemuddin, worked with a hawala agent for quite some time and had knowledge that the money transfers business was illegal.
Khusroo discussed about the illegal money transactions with Omer, who planned to loot the cash and escape. Subsequently, Omer roped in his friends assuring them a huge sum of money if they supported him. Khusro told Omer, that he would alert him whenever they were on way to collect or handover cash.
On Tuesday early hours, Khusro and Azeem were asked by their manager to collect Rs. 1 crore from a person at Kukatpally. Sensing that it was a good opportunity, Khusroo alerted Omer Shareef about it.
“Shareef along with his associates waylaid Khusroo and Azeemuddin who were going on a scooter at Kukatpally road and sprinkled chilli powder into their eyes. When the duo fell on the road, Omer and his associates snatched the cash bag and escaped,” said DCP (Kukatpally) Ritiraj.
While escaping, one of the suspects, Saddam left his two wheeler behind on the road. Basing on the details of the vehicle registration number, the police tracked down the suspects and caught them at RGI Airport while they were planning to leave for Lucknow. Efforts are on to nab the remaining suspects who are absconding.
