L2: Empuraan set to create a landmark moment with this feat

A sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Lucifer, the film is the second installment in the Lucifer trilogy.

Hyderabad: Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s most-anticipated film L2: Empuraan is set for a grand theatrical release on March 27, 2025, making history as the first-ever Malayalam film to be released in IMAX.

Mohanlal shared this news of X tweeting, “It gives us immense pride to announce that L2: Empuraan will be the first-ever film from the Malayalam cinema industry to release on IMAX. We hope this is the beginning of a long and illustrious association between IMAX and Malayalam cinema.”

A sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Lucifer, the film is the second installment in the Lucifer trilogy. Mohanlal will reprise his role as Khureshi-Ab’raam, also known as Stephen Nedumpally. The star-studded cast includes Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Indrajith Sukumaran, Fazil, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Kishore Kumar G, Sachin Khedekar, Abhimanyu Singh and Hollywood Actors Jerome Flynn (Game of Thrones), making his Indian cinema debut.

Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, L2: Empuraan is produced by Lyca Productions, Aashirvad Cinemas, and Sree Gokulam Movies. Along with Malayalam release this pan-Indian film is set to release in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Kannada. Dil Raju’s SVC Cinemas will handle distribution in the Telugu states.
