Sangareddy: Medak Local Authorities Constituency witnessed a record 99.22 percent polling as 1,018 voters exercised their franchise against the total voters of 1,026 at nine polling stations across erstwhile Medak district on Friday.
The polling stations in Toopran, Narayankhed, Zaheerabad and Sididpet recorded 100 percent of polling. Only eight voters stayed away from the election for different reasons. Finance Minister T Harish Rao, and MP Medak Kotha Prabhakar Reddy have exercised their franchise in Siddipet while MLAs have voted at various places.
In the Sangareddy polling booth, an MPTC has signed in the place of another MPTC who were having the same names. It led to some confusion. However, the election authorities resolved the issue by correcting the mistake. When Pati village of Patancheru Mandal MPTC K Sunitha had visited the polling station to cast her vote, the election staff found that someone had already exercised her vote. However, the election staff later found that another MPTC D Sunitha had signed in K Sunitha’s signatures column. After checking everything thoroughly, they have allowed Pati MPTC K Sunitha to cast her vote. Except for this, the Polling went peaceful at nine Polling stations.
Collector Medak and Returning Officer of the election S Harish visited the polling stations in Medak, Toofran and Narsapur while Collector Sangareddy M Hanumantha Rao visited the polling station in Sangareddy. Additional Collector Muzammil Khan observed the election process in Siddipet. By 5 PM, the ballot boxes were taken to the strong room.
