Lawyer couple murder: Police carry out crime scene reconstruction again

Peddapalli: Police on Wednesday carried out crime scene reconstruction for a second time on Wednesday to ascertain more details about the murder of advocate couple Gattu Vamana Rao and PV Nagamani near Kalvacherala on February 17.
The first time police conducted a scene reconstruction was on February 18 following the arrest of A-1 Kunta Srinivas, A-2 Sivandula Chiranjeevi and A-3 Akkapaka Kumar who were taken to the murder spot at Kalvacherla. Later, the accused were produced in the court. Recently, they were sent to police custody for further interrogation.
As part of the investigation, the police led by Additional DCP (administration) Ashok Kumar once again carried out the crime scene reconstruction in Manthani town as well as the murder spot at Kalvacherla. They tried to get more details on how the accused did a recce of the victims in Manthani town and followed them from Manthani to Kalvacherla.
Later, they were taken to Kalvacherala of Ramagiri mandal, where the couple was murdered. The accused explained to the police how they chased the vehicle of the victims and hacked them to death.
It may be recalled that after taking them into custody, police took Kunta Srinivas and S Chiranjeevi to Sundilla barrage to know the exact spot where the sickles used for the murder were dropped. Based on the information given by them, police carried out a search operation with sea divers on Sunday and Monday and found the weapons.
Godavarikhani ACP Umender, CCS CI Venkateshwarlu, Manthani CI A Mahender and other officers participated in scene reconstruction.
