Legal Aid Society of ICFAI Law School holds awareness camp
Experts educate farmers about various legislations designed to improve their socio-economic conditions

Hyderabad: The Legal Aid Society of ICFAI Law School at IFHE, Hyderabad, organised a legal awareness camp on ‘Farmers’ Rights’ in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) of Karimnagar at Gattuboothkur in Gangadhara mandal of Karimnagar.
During the event, Prof Y Pratap Reddy, Dean of ICFAI Law School, Hyderabad, explained the purpose of the camp, emphasising the importance of being aware of one’s rights and responsibilities.
Chief guest B Prathima, Principal District and Sessions Judge of Karimnagar, educated the farmers about various legislations designed to improve their socio-economic conditions. Guest of honor K Venkatesh, Secretary, DLSA, Karimnagar elaborated on the free legal services available for farmers.
Legal Aid members presented posters illustrating farmers’ rights under various legislations, including the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights Act (PPV FRA) of 2001, the Rythu Bheema scheme, and the Bandhu scheme. They also highlighted a toll-free number for farmers to register complaints and performed a drama depicting two farmers struggling with drought, debt, and personal hardships, to inspire farmers adopt better agricultural practices through education and technology.
