Leopard kills calf in Sangareddy village

Sangareddy: A leopard, which was on the prowl in Kalher and Sirgapur Mandals of Sangareddy district, killed a calf at Kadpal village of Sirgapur Manda on Monday.

Hanumappa, a farmer, found his calf totally eaten by some unidentified animal at his farm shed located on the outskirts of the village. Following a phone call, Forest Range Officer Devilal reached the spot and after examining the carcass, identified the pug marks of the leopard at the site.


In the last few days, several farmers from Krishnapur, Nagadhara in Kalher Mandal and Khajapur village in Sirgapur Mandal reported spotting a leopard in the area.

The Forest officials suggested that the farmers stay on alert while moving in the area. They asked them not to venture out alone during the night.

Meanwhile, the locals urged the forest officials to set a trap for the leopard and release it deep inside the forest.
