Adilabad: The killing of two cows by a leopard within four days has triggered panic among residents of Marlapalli village in Boath mandal.
Locals said the cows were attacked and killed while grazing in the forest on the outskirts of the village between October 5 and 9. They said villagers were living in fear following the leopard’s movement in the area and urged forest officials to take immediate steps to prevent any human casualties.
Forest officials said leopards inhabiting nearby forests often kill cattle that stray into their territory. They advised villagers not to take their cattle deep into the forest for grazing and to move in groups while working in the fields. Officials also said CCTV traps have been installed to track the movement of the wild animal.
