Nagarkurnool: A leopard appears to be on the prowl near Ummapur and its surrounding areas in Vanguru mandal of Nagarkurnool district. The locals sighted the pug marks of the animal on Friday and informed the officials of both the police and the forest departments.
The news spread like wildfire and the villagers are now scared to venture out of their homes during the festive season of Sankranthi. A few villagers claimed to have sighted the leopard itself in the same locality, but the veracity of these claims could not be ascertained.
The forest officials who visited the spot, have confirmed that the pug marks belong to a leopard, but assured the villagers not to be worried. They have deployed teams to trace out the wild animal.
