Lift water from Kaleshwaram to meet irrigation needs of Vanakalam: BRS

The BRS leader claimed the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was not ordering the irrigation department to lift water from Medigadda barrage despite eight lakhs of cusecs of water going waste into the sea.

Siddipet: The BRS leaders and cadres staged a protest at the Kodakandla canal in Gajwel mandal on Wednesday, demanding that the government release water into Kondapochamma Sagar, Kudavelly vagu, Haldi Vagu, Sangareddy canal, Ramayampet canal and other canals from Mallanna Sagar, to meet the needs of vanakalam.

Speaking on the occasion, party’s Gajwel constituency in-charge, Vanteru Prathapa Reddy, said that the BRS government, under the leadership of K Chandrashekar Rao provided irrigation water even during mid-summer.

Though drought-like of situation prevails in the State due to scanty rainfall, and water bodies have gone dry across the region, Prathap Reddy said that the Congress government was not making any attempts to lift the water from Kannepalli pump house, to reservoirs built under Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP).

He said that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was not ordering the irrigation department to lift water from Medigadda barrage despite eight lakhs of cusecs of water going waste into the sea.

The BRS leader said that the check dams, minor irrigation tanks, streams and reservoirs used to brim with Godavari water when KCR was in power.

Reddy demanded Revanth to respond immediately on their request. Otherwise, he said farmers will teach a lesson to Congress in the coming local body elections.
