Lightning strike kills two women in Kothagudem; one injured

Meanwhile, several parts of Kothagudem and Khammam districts received heavy to light rainfall on Tuesday

Kothagudem: Two women died after being struck by lightning at Jaggaram village of Dammapet mandal in the district on Tuesday.

Sunnam Anusha (23) and Kattam Nagashree (23) were struck by lightning when they were working in an agriculture field at the village.

The condition of another farm labourer Madakam Sitamma, who was also struck by lightning, was said to be critical. Sitamma was rushed to a private hospital at Sathupalli in Khammam district for treatment.

Meanwhile, several parts of Kothagudem and Khammam districts received heavy to light rainfall on Tuesday. A heavy rainfall of 8.3 cm was recorded at the automatic weather stations at Mandalapalli, 7.4 cm at Naupalle and 6.4 cm at Malkaram in Dammapet mandal during the day.

Several mandals in the district received light to moderate rainfall. In Khammam, 6 cm rainfall was recorded at Gouraram and 4 cm rainfall at Penuballi mandal headquarters.

Sathupalli, Khammam urban, Konijerla and Raghunathapalem mandals received moderate rainfall while some mandals witnessed light rainfall.
