Adilabad: Mild tension prevailed for a while at Chinnabuggaram village in Neradigonda mandal on Saturday after villagers objected to the closure of a road by family members of a defeated candidate.
Locals said Chandrakala, a Congress supported candidate, was defeated by BRS backed candidate Ujwal Yadav in the recent village polls. Disappointed over the result, Chandrakala’s husband nursed a grudge against the villagers and placed a bullock cart across the road to block it, triggering resentment among residents. The villagers informed the police about the obstruction, following which personnel rushed to the spot and removed the cart to clear the road. However, family members of Chandrakala allegedly attacked the policemen when they shifted the cart to facilitate the movement of villagers.
They also pelted stones at the police, leading to tension in the village. In the incident, a sub-inspector and a constable sustained minor injuries.
Police registered a case against the attackers and took up investigation.
