Hyderabad: The State government has decided to once again extend the 25 per cent concession on Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS) fees till May 31. The decision was taken following a lukewarm public response and facing technical hurdles in implementation.

Official orders to this effect are expected to be issued over next a couple of days.

Initially launched in 2020, the LRS scheme received 25.67 lakh applications. While the previous BRS government cleared around nine lakh applications, the remaining applications were taken up after the Congress came to power. However, only 5.19 lakh applicants completed payments by April 30.

Despite extending the concession deadline twice – first to April 30 and then to May 3. the government managed to collect just Rs 1,863 crore against its revenue target of RS 20,000 crore.

So far, proceedings have been issued to 40 per cent of those who paid the LRS fee. Citing operational challenges and low participation, official sources confirmed that fresh orders will soon be issued to formally extend the deadline once again. The move is aimed at providing another window for applicants to regularise their plots.
