Luxury watch smuggling racket busted, two held at Hyderabad airport

Authorities at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, in coordination with local police, intercepted two individuals allegedly transporting 30 Rolex watches valued at Rs 18 crore. Investigators suspect the consignment was part of an organised smuggling racket targeting major cities.

Hyderabad: The airport authorities along with the local police have uncovered a suspected high-value illegal trade involving luxury watches at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.

As per information available, two individuals were reportedly caught while allegedly transporting a large consignment of Rolex watches from Hyderabad to Mumbai. A total of 30 watches were seized from them. The total value of the consignment is estimated to be nearly Rs 18 crore in the open market.

Police suspect that the watches were being smuggled and sold across major cities as part of an organised racket. However, investigators are still verifying whether the seized items are genuine Rolex watches or counterfeit products.

The suspects were detained and further investigation is underway to uncover the network behind the operation.
