MAA elections: Prakash Raj clears his way in a tacit manner

Prakash Raj was so tacit with his strategy that actors like Hema and Jeevitha couldn’t say no but to oblige him.

Hyderabad: It was an unexpected twist of sorts on Friday for both the film industry and outsiders who have been closely observing the drama surrounding MAA elections 2021. Actors Jeevitha Rajasekhar and Hema, who have been very vocal about the development of Movie Artistes Association recently, have dropped their plans to contest against Prakash Raj in the forthcoming polls and joined his panel.

It may be recalled that Jeevitha had announced her candidature to contest for the post of general secretary of MAA while Hema was in the race for vice-president’s post. On Friday, Prakash Raj announced 25 members from his panel, some of who are contesting for various positions for the artistes’ association.

The names include Meka Srikanth who is contesting as executive vice-president followed by Benerjee and Hema vying for the post of MAA vice-president. While Jeevitha Rajasehar is in fray for the post of general secretary, actors Uttej and Anitha Chowdary will contest as joint secretaries, and senior character artiste Nagineedu for the treasurer’s post.

Mincing no words, Prakash Raj said, “I came here to serve the film industry. I want to serve my fellow artistes and industry people. During my earlier interaction with the media, I came with a few friends from the cinema industry who weren’t my panel members actually. Now, I have decided to announce the members in my list today.”

Prakash Raj was so tacit with his strategy that actors like Hema and Jeevitha couldn’t say no but to oblige him. “When I told Hema garu that we should all stand and unite as one team, she immediately said she wanted to be on my panel. She is a brave lady; she has experience in serving the association earlier. That’s the reason we welcomed her. Coming to Jeevitha, I explained our agenda and strategy as to how to go about in the MAA elections. After a detailed explanation of two hours, she got convinced and agreed to contest from my panel,” said Prakash Raj.

Apparently, the route seems clear for Prakash Raj as his chances to win MAA polls are considerably high. It is the fact that some of the bigwigs in the industry including Megastar Chiranjeevi have already put their weight behind Prakash Raj. And now, it appears that the fight has become a triangular one between Prakash Raj’s panel, CVL Narasimha Rao and Manchu Vishnu.
