New Chandigarh: Gwalior Cheetahs captain Rajat Patidar has lauded the Madhya Pradesh League (MPL) for playing a vital role in discovering and nurturing young cricketing talent across the state.

Speaking after leading the Cheetahs in their opening match of MPL Season 3 against the Ujjain Falcons at the Holkar Stadium, Patidar highlighted how the tournament has evolved into an essential launchpad for aspiring cricketers to showcase their abilities and climb the domestic ladder.

“At least 10 to 11 players from here are now playing in the IPL, and around five or six new faces have emerged directly through this league,” Patidar observed. “Many players have not only secured vital opportunities but have also gone on to dominate at higher levels. It’s a very positive sign for Madhya Pradesh cricket.”

The 32-year-old batter, widely recognized as one of the state’s most successful white-ball products, believes the expanded league has significantly fortified MP’s domestic structure by providing high-intensity, competitive exposure to raw talent.

Patidar also reflected on his enduring emotional bond with the iconic Holkar Stadium, a venue that holds immense significance in his developmental years. “Whenever I return to the Holkar Stadium, I always thoroughly enjoy it because I started my career right here. I have a lifetime of memories attached to this ground,” he said.

The Gwalior Cheetahs skipper expressed his gratitude for the enthusiastic crowd response during the tournament opener and hoped the local support would continue to swell as the season matches unfold.

“The atmosphere was electric. It was fantastic to see so many fans turning up to watch the local franchises. Their vocal support motivates all the young players, and I am certain the crowds will keep growing as the tournament progresses,” Patidar added.
