Mahabubabad: Firefighters, locals rescue a toddy tapper as his safety gear broke
A toddy tapper was rescued after getting stranded atop a palm tree in Mahabubabad when a safety rope snapped while climbing. Firefighters safely brought him down using a ladder after fellow workers alerted authorities.
Mahabubabad: A toddy tapper’s life has hung in balance virtually for a while as one of the safety gear the toddy toppers uses to climb the tree broke and he got stuck on a palm tree.
The incident took place at Rajolu village of Kuravi mandal on Saturday. The toddy tapper Siluveru Venkanna was left hanging from a palm tree after ‘Gujji’ , a rope that was used to hold the legs together while climbing the tree, broke.
He remained stuck on the tree fearing for his life until the fellow workers noticed him and alerted firefighters. He was brought down safely with the help of a fire engine ladder as the locals who watched the rescue operation cheered with joy.
