Mahabubabad: Harassment drives woman to suicide

Mahabubabad: A 21-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging at her residence at Samba thanda in Bayyaram mandal in Mahabubabad district in the early hours of Sunday.
The deceased was Dharmasoth Sunitha, daughter of Dharmasoth Bitchya.
In a suicide note, Sunitha alleged that her lover Maloth Shiva, his family members and relatives had attacked his father and implicated him in a false case, which resulted in Bitchya’s arrest. She also said she had fallen in love with Maloth Shiva when she was studying B.Ed and that though they wanted to marry, due to his changed behaviour, she decided to wait for some time. She said Shiva had even attempted to rape her once at her home.
“Though I approached the police on April 24 after my father was beaten up, the ASI had asked for me proof which I could not provide,” she said in the note, adding that her father was innocent. She alleged that ASI Jagadish had taken the cell phone from her as it had visuals of the attack.
The Bayyaram police registered a case.
