Reviewing the paddy procurement in the district on Thursday, the Collector instructed the millers to increase the storage capacity in the godowns
Mahabubnagar: District Collector S Venkat Rao warned officials of stern action if they were found negligent in paddy procurement.
He specifically instructed the officials that during the next 10 days, procurement should be taken up on a large-scale and all measures should be taken to ensure that grains do not get drenched in case of rain.
Reviewing the paddy procurement in the district on Thursday, the Collector instructed the millers to increase the storage capacity in the godowns. He also wanted the officials to store the grains at Rythu Vedikas and schools.
Instructions were issued to the Education Department officials to handover the school premises to local Tahsildars and Agriculture officials.
Directions were issued to millers to ensure early transportation of procured grains. “At no cost, millers will not be permitted to store the grains for many days. If required, the grains should be stored in private function halls and at all other government facilities,” said Venkat Rao.
Tahsildars were directed to particularly monitor the grains uploading process. If there is any delay in transportation, then the transport agencies will be put under black list, he warned.
Additional Collector Sitarama Rao informed that as many as 190 paddy procurement centres were set up in the district. Till date, 92,000 metric tonnes of grains were procured against the estimated 1.42 lakh metric tonnes, he said.
